Scategories

In my blog, I’m going to be dealing with a lot of different subjects. This is all fine and dandy if you want to go hunting through every post I write one at a time. It might, however, become a little problematic if you want to look for specific types of posts.

One solution to this might be to add tags to each post, identifying it by the predominant subject matter, but then it wouldn’t really keep similar posts together.

Another solution, and it’s one I can’t believe I never thought of before, is to break everything up into specific categories. That way, everything stays together but still separate.

The only problem for me right now is to decide what categories I want to make. Some posts might have to to do with more than one category, it’ll be up to me to decide where to place each post. I might place one post in multiple categories, we’ll see how things go.

I’ve been blogging for a while now but I’m still not really familiar with categories. I think I understand the concept, the only way I’ll be able to understand it more is to do it and see what happens.

If you want to read posts that have to do with a specific category, look to the right side of the page and the categories will be listed. At least, that’s what I think will happen.

Shis’ka Bob Episode IV: A New Hope

“Klahowya!” as my people would say. Welcome to the new Shis’ka Bob website.

I already have a blog and other stuff on various other sites but I’m thinking of moving it all here and keeping all of my online endeavors in one place.

I’m also currently working on a review show which will be integrated into this site. It’s still in the planning stages at this point, I hope to get it up and running very soon. So stick around and see how everything develops, it should be interesting.

The Name Game

My real name is Robert Drinkwater but I prefer to be addressed by my tribal name: Shis’ka Bob. It’s the name that world knows me by and it has centuries of tradition and history behind it. I’m proud to carry it on for my nation and for my family.

Unfortunately, it’s also a very common name online, as I’ve been finding out over the past few years. I tried to get a .com domain under the name “shiskabob” but it’s already taken. I visited the website and it appears it’s not actually being used for anything. I’ve tried signing up for email address with Hotmail and Gmail, shiskabob is already taken. I tried signing up for a blog here on WordPress.com and on Tumblr, it’s already taken. I tried signing up for Facebook and Twitter accounts with the shiskabob username and, you guessed it, it’s already taken (this is a recording).

Finally, I signed up here and got the domain under my real name. I couldn’t even just use Drinkwater, that’s already in use, so I had to use my full name. It’s not exactly ideal for me. For one thing, it makes for kind of a long URL, and for another thing I’m much better known by my traditional name, but it’ll do for the time being.

It’s just frustrating that I can’t have shiskabob as my username for anything online, since so many buffleheads out there already use it. Where’s the originality? If I had known it was going to be so popular I would’ve signed up for everything years sooner, but I have to make do with what’s left.

I can tell you this, though: I’m like the Highlander, there can be only one Shis’ka Bob. I’m him and you’re not, even if you have the username shiskabob.
